A Cure for the Reunion Blues

When I got to the reunion,
I was singing the blues.
Not a familiar face in sight -
I hadn't a clue.

I said to myself:

"Stop from feeling so sad.
You have to learn to take both
The good and the bad."

I walked into the banquet

And looked all around,
Then walked up to the nearest table
And sat myself down.

The group was from Kentucky,

And made me feel at ease.
Maybe this evening
Would turn out to be a breeze.

As I took another look,

Some faces rang a bell.
At least it felt familiar,
But still none that I knew well.

As we walked outside,

And the band began to play,
I decided that everything
Would turn out okay.

I joined with the others

From my same class,
Sharing in the fun,
And did the time pass.

The BAND REALLY ROCKED,

The music was pumping,
All I can say is that
"The Joint was Jumpin'!"

We were swinging and rocking,

Kicking and hopping,
Singing and sweating,
The BAND NEVER STOPPING!

It is so amazing

That music can unite
People of all types and ages -
Wow, what a sight!

After all the dancing,

My reunion blues were cured.
I had bonded with so many,
Without hardly a word.

Music is magical,

Dancing is bliss,
The evening was one
That I wouldn't have missed.

THANK YOU Kilwein Family Tree-O

For making my night.
I felt so inspired,
I just had to write.

MAA 6/17/01

For the Kilwein Family Tree-O
Written after they played at my 10 year college reunion at the University of Dayton.
What a great show they did. They rocked the house!
I emailed them the poem and they wrote me one back. What nice guys!
