Mandy

She is a soft-spoken songstress
She is a mindful muse
She is a melancholy musician
She is a serious student
She speaks in sonnets
She laments in lyrics
She swoons for symphonies
She is passionate about poetry
She is literate about literature
She pursues personification
She is awed by alliteration
She is careful with consonance
She is distracted by dissonance
She is allured by allegory
She is obsessed with onomatopoeia
She marvels at meter
She revels with rhyme
She waxes poetic
She reads ravenously
She is voracious about verses
She is crazy about classics
She is excited about epics
She is swept away by stories
Her compassion and empathy are unlimited
She cares for all she meets
She wishes the best for the world
She excels at academics
She enlightens with education
She is proud of her progress
She is committed to her challenges
She perseveres with her pursuit of learning
The world fascinates and inspires her
She is genuine and kind
She will make her mark on mankind
She will fulfill her wishes
She will find the peace she seeks
She will follow her dreams
She will inspire all who know her
The sorrowful will seek her solace
The meek will look to her for mentoring
The cautious will ask for her counsel
She will generously give of her goodness
She will alleviate your adversities
She will guide you to good fortune
She believes in benevolence
She aspires to spreading acceptance
She generously gives of her time
She sees the best in you and
She will never give up on you
until you see it for yourself.

Yoga and Meditation Journal - 10/21/14

I think I should add walking to the journal title as it is my new staple, but for me walking is a meditation as I have said before, as I usually do it solitary and in silence. A moving meditation, in harmony with nature as I prefer to be outside, in whatever weather. It is going on week 3 of doing my thrice daily walks. I am really loving it and crave it. I just cannot stop so far. I have had a cold since last Thursday but manage to muster up energy to do a simple slow walk and the fresh air has been good for me. I am keeping it short while I am sick, but even when I think I may not go for my 2nd or 3rd, I find my body is moving me out the door, eager for its fix. I get going pretty early in the morning to get one in before work at our little park, then go in the afternoon on the track at work (love that we have that) or in parks on the weekend, finishing it off sometime in the evening (usually night - love the late walks) just up and down our street.

The walking is huge for my creative flow. I have written more poems since I have started the regular walking, and I find that since I do them mainly in my head that I remember them more. I will often finish/edit it at home but the main idea is set on the walk. Not every walk spurs a poem, but many do right now. As no surprise, since I am walking outside nature is a big theme right now for me. But I also relate my spiritual growth from my meditations into poems as well.

Interesting that this past week I didn't do as much yoga - the walking is taking more of its place but I am still finding the balance of what I will do as I progress. It is just fun trying to find the time for them all. Often I sit on the porch or a quiet place and do a full meditation after my walk. Great peaceful time. When I do my yoga now, I am more at peace and feel which poses I need to go into. While I have been sick restorative is more in tune, and it really helped to clear my sinuses one night. I have missed my class a bit lately due to schedule and work, but went to two workshops so that was nice. I will have to do more at home since my husband got a new job and our schedules may be up i the air for a while. Thinking of replacing my Tuesday class for a Sunday one. We will see.

I can really see how all the yoga, meditation and walking are enhancing my creativity and soul. I feel so alive right now. More than ever before. It is a great feeling.

Looking forward to a Thursday group mediation this week which I am sure will provide more visions and insights as well as inspiration for more poetry.

Meditation: I Fearlessly Speak My Truth with Love

I went to Cedar Point yesterday and we had a good time. Gwen enjoyed going on rides with Josh. I am resting today since it is tiring spending all day there plus the drive back. Another busy week at work starts tomorrow. I transferred pictures from my phone to post on Facebook today. I am enjoying keeping up with friends and family on there more and more. It is a good outlet. I got my Mom on there so will help her get used to it as I can.

I did my meditations last night and this morning. Only a few more days left of the Oprah/Deepak 21 day challenge. They are on Day 21 but I started with the earliest I could do, 5 days back. So today I did Day 17. It is a really simple, nice series. I will try to keep doing a little meditation each day after this ends too. I already do one day at lunch every week at work with friends but have not done much myself lately until this challenge. I just found out that our meditation group is going to have a session this Friday so that will be great. They are always wonderful.

Meditation really helps me to center and connect with my inner self. It allows my poetry to flow much more easily as a result. So I am motivated to continue it.

Here is the info on the mediation I did today:

Day 17
Miraculous Communication
Today's Centering Thought:
I fearlessly speak my truth with love.
Our Sanskrit mantra:
Om Ritam Namah
My actions and intentions are supported by cosmic intelligence.

Journal - 8/23/13

I have been working hard on this blog the last couple of days.  I transferred all of my love poetry except the ones for my husband when we were first dating, which I am putting on its own page. I still have to transfer my other poetry also from over the years. I added photos to my Summer 2013 poetry. I like it. I took images from my pictures and the web to illustrate each poem.

Yesterday I mediated again to Oprah and Deepak. It is short but good. I will try to do it again today. Maybe 2 times (morning and evening) since I may not be able to do it tomorrow. I am going to Cedar point with the family.

Blessings and Peace to all.

Family

Some by birth and blood do make their bond;
Some by ties of marriage of whom we are fond.

They are always there when you are in need,
Tied by a special unspoken creed.

The joy and laughter that are often shared,
Cannot be measured or compared.

They accept you with all your flaws,
Even when you give them pause.

In the heat of anger you may have spoken,
But this powerful bond cannot be broken.

The fruits of this bond are a gift from above,
A precious symbol of eternal love.

No distance or time can lessen this tie,
For it only grows stronger as the years go by.

Hold onto them tight for as long as you can,
Don't let anything come between you and your clan.

The generations before course through our veins,
Their strength can see us through any pain.

Even in death their presence is found,
As we sense their spirits are still around.

Don't question the reason nor the need,
Honor the past and their lessons heed.

The present is ours to forge the way,
As the future brings the promise of a brighter day.

The Park

Round and round I walk on the path,
As nature encircles me in its grasp.
The stately trees are treasured friends,
Always standing around each bend.

The blue sky opens far and wide,
As the white clouds go floating by;
Their changing shapes lead to reverie,
Imagining who and what they might be.

The children playing can be heard all around,
Always a cheerful and pleasant sound;
A tiny oasis amidst the busy streets,
Where for a moment we can find some peace.

Pennies from Heaven

If you see a penny on the ground,
Know that an angel is around;
Telling you not to despair,
That you are in their loving care.

Though you cannot see their face,
By your side they take their place,
Guiding you from every foe,
Healing you from any woe.

Listen to their message today,
As it sets you on your merry way.
Don't question this sign so very clear,
For it will wipe away your fear.

Camping

In the woods we gather among the trees,
Enjoying the quiet and the breeze.

The sounds of nature surround us all,
As we listen to their echoing call.

How very nice to get away,
From the call of another day.
All of us join in the fun,
From morning until the setting sun.

At twilight we start to settle down,
Some quiet time can then be found.

Sitting by the firelight,
Sharing stories is such a delight.

We never want the day to end,
Especially when shared with friends.
