Sun Kissed

The Sun rises gently as I tread
Casting streaks and shadows
Across the icy snow
It greets me cheerfully
As it peeks through the trees
Rising higher with each step
Shining brighter with each lap
The trees shield it from my eyes
Creating beauty as I pass
I never tire of its views
I get a thrill from each glance
I try to capture every moment
But lenses never do it justice
The peace and joy it brings to me
Can never be expressed fully
My images and words
Are my best attempt
To share with the world
The pleasure that I feel
When it kisses me

Morning Observation

The dew glistens and sparkles
as the sun streaks across the grass.
The trees are illuminated
as if in a spotlight from the sky.
Morning sounds of traffic and the birds
compete to be heard,
as the squirrels scurry around,
foraging for food.

The Sun lifts its head,

warming my face
as I walk quietly and slowly,
inhaling the sights and sounds,
letting them sink into my skin,
nourish my soul,
calm my mind
and bring balance to my body.

If we open our eyes and ears,

we can find the beauty and joy in nature
amidst the bustle of the world.

Yoga and Meditation Journal - 10/5/14

Well the poetry is flowing again but it has been a while since I have done any journaling on here.
My yoga, walking and meditation are really flourishing, better than ever. I started my practices again about a month ago. It was sporadic until then. The winter and lots of work took its toll on me and I am finally taking better care of myself again. It feels great!

I have been doing my yoga at least once a day, even if only for 10 minutes in the morning. I started going to my classes at my favorite yoga studio, and of course have gone to as many workshops as I have been able. I just had one Friday night and it was phenomenal. It was Restorayin with Thai yoga massage. Heavenly!

The meditations are not quite daily yet, but I think of my yoga and walking as meditations. I really get in the zone when I do them. We have been continuing our weekly meditations at work, They are weekly now but for a while it was bi-weekly or whenever we could do it. I have usually been leading them and it is really a great experience for me to use my intuition and get in touch with my energy.
Our meditation group that we had been doing last year started again and that is great. It has a lot of good energy and I am seeing a huge difference in my life now.

I started daily walks and have been increasing it and now I crave it every day, even in the early morning (although I am usually a night person). I have been walking two to three times a day - just 10 to 20 minutes at a time and not a fast pace. Just to move - I call it moving forward. I mostly enjoy being outside when I walk, even on a rainy day like yesterday. I just put on my jacket and carried my umbrella. I am unstoppable.

Daybreak

The dewy mist surrounds me as I circle all around
It hovers in the air as it hangs above the ground

The early morning sky is shimmering with stars
As I hear the swift movement from all the passing cars

While they rush to the start of their busy day
In the quiet of my mind I prefer to stay

The dawn slowly breaks as the Sun begins to rise
The darkness disappears right before my eyes

I savor every step of my simple little walk
Taking time for myself with no need to talk

As I step off the path, the dawn comes at last
These timeless moments pass by us so fast

The Pause

As I walk with intention
Life flows in me
Youthfulness returns to me
Time quietly pauses
Mindfulness works a miracle
Every moment is magical
Silence prevails
One breath at a time

Walk With Me

The clouds speak to me with white wisps across the sky;
The birds beckon as they fly.

The sun warms me as I walk amidst the trees;
Nature calls to me with every breeze.

My mind quiets as I listen to the sounds;
Sweet stillness echoes and resounds.

Little flowers flock amongst the grass;
Fluttering along the path as I pass.

The joy and beauty is there for all to see,
So won’t you come and walk along with me?
